Cantilever Racking

If you’re handling and storing long, awkward products, cantilever racking is what you need. Timber packs, steel bars, pipes, tubing, sheet metal and plasterboard all have a habit of ending up wherever they’ll fit. Sometimes against a wall, sometimes hanging over a pallet, usually taking up floor space that could be used for something else.

Our Perth cantilever racking gives long products a proper home. It’s safer, easier to access and makes far better use of your available space than trying to make conventional pallet racking do a job it wasn’t designed for.

At Rackman, we supply cantilever racking systems ranging from extra light duty through to fully engineered heavy-duty installations. Whether you’re storing kayaks, aluminium extrusions, timber packs or structural steel, we’ll help you find the right system for the job.

What is cantilever racking?

Cantilever racking is a specialist storage system designed for products that are overlength or oversized. Instead of front uprights getting in the way, cantilever systems use vertical columns with projecting arms. This creates an open-front design that allows materials to be loaded and unloaded quickly using forklifts, side loaders or manual handling equipment.

The result is a safer, simpler way to store products that don’t fit neatly on a pallet.

Cantilever Extra Light Duty

Need somewhere to store kayaks, aluminium sections or lightweight timber? Extra light duty cantilever racking is built for exactly that. Perfect for products that are long but don't require the load capacity of a larger cantilever system.
  • A safe work loading of 100kg UDL per arm
  • Free-standing or concrete-bolted (no need for bases and bracing)
  • Single and double-sided configurations

Cantilever Light Duty

This is the sweet spot for a lot of businesses. If you're storing pipes, tubing, timber or aluminium sections, light duty cantilever gives you the strength you need without paying for capacity you'll never use.
  • Safe working load maximum of 250kg – 350kg UDL per arm (depending on configuration)
  • Single and double-sided configurations
  • Powder coated for indoor use or hot dip galvanised (HDG) for outdoor use

Cantilever Medium Medium and heavy-duty

Storing structural steel? Timber packs? Plasterboard? This is where things start getting serious. Medium and heavy-duty cantilever racking is built for products that are heavy, awkward and difficult to store any other way.
  • Safe working load maximum of 1,500kg UDL each (depending on configuration)
  • Single and double-sided configurations
  • Fully customisable
  • Available with varying heights, arm lengths and column spacings

Why choose cantilever racking?

Maximise storage capacity

Long products are notoriously difficult to store efficiently. Cantilever racking allows materials to be stored horizontally while making full use of vertical space. Instead of sacrificing pallet locations or valuable floor area, you can create dedicated storage that keeps everything organised and easy to access.

Improve accessibility

Anyone who’s tried to pull a six-metre length of pipe out of the middle of a crowded storage area knows how quickly things can get in the way. Because there are no front uprights restricting access, with cantilever racking, forklifts can load and retrieve materials quickly and safely. It keeps products visible and accessible, making day-to-day handling far simpler.

Keep stock organised

Long products can be difficult to separate and identify when they’re stacked on the floor or spread across pallet locations. Cantilever racking gives every product type a dedicated storage location, making stock easier to find, count and access when you need it.

Configured to your specs

Cantilever racking can be configured to suit almost any warehouse or yard layout.

Single-sided systems are commonly installed along walls or perimeter areas, while double-sided systems provide maximum storage density within central warehouse aisles.

Powder-coated systems are ideal for warehouses, workshops and manufacturing facilities, while hot-dip galvanised cantilever racking provides long-term protection against rust and corrosion in outdoor environments.

Additional arm lengths, column heights and bay configurations allow cantilever systems to be tailored to your available space. From compact warehouses to large outdoor yards, there’s usually a configuration that fits.

Not sure which setup makes sense? That’s what we’re here for. We’ll help design a system around your products, your space and the way your team works.

FAQ on cantilever racking

Cantilever racking is used to store long, bulky and oversized materials such as timber, pipes, steel bars, tubing, sheet metal and construction products.

Depends on the system you select. Rackman’s extra light duty systems support 100kg UDL per arm, light duty systems support up to 350kg UDL per arm, while medium and heavy-duty systems can support up to 1,500kg UDL per arm depending on configuration.

Yes. Hot-dip galvanised cantilever racking is specifically designed for outdoor environments and provides excellent resistance to corrosion and weather exposure.

Single-sided cantilever racking stores materials on one side of the column and is typically installed against walls. Double-sided systems store materials on both sides and maximise storage density.

Yep. Cantilever racking is one of the most common storage solutions for timber, lumber and building products because it provides easy access while supporting long material lengths.

Absolutely. Our medium and heavy-duty cantilever systems can be customised to suit specific load requirements, product dimensions and operational needs.
